The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs’ (MOIA) constant endeavour is to further strengthen the strong bond between India and its diaspora, address their concerns and create an enabling environment, whereby Overseas Indians engage with, and benefit from, the opportunities in a rapidly growing economy. The MOIA has set up a Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre (OIFC), in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), which provides facilitation services to the Overseas Indians, especially for their economic engagement with India. The OIFC is governed by a Council of prominent overseas Indians, Industry leaders and senior policy makers from the Government of India.
2. OIFC serves as a focal point, especially, for diaspora professionals and small/ mid-sized entrepreneurs to build strong inter linkages with India, enabling them to expand their economic engagement with India. Currently, OIFC’s activities include, query addressal on various issues faced by the NRI’s & PIO’s, a robust online business networking portal, projection of member States’ projects, Road Shows through Investors Interactive Meets in various countries, Market Place forums in India and overseas.
3. OIFC has a monthly e-newsletter “India Connect’ which is designed to engage the diaspora and feed them with relevant economic developments, news and policy announcements on a regular basis so that they may deepen their engagement with India. OIFC comes out with annual publications which prove to be a useful guide for the Overseas Indians in their quest for information on the regulatory and practical dimensions of investing in India.
