ITEC & Colombo Plan

Under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program scholarships are offered to various developing countries while under Technical Cooperation Scheme of the Colombo Plan (TCS), India offers scholarships to Colombo Plan member countries.  Under the ITEC and Colombo Plan schemes, junior, middle level and senior officers of Government, Government companies, Universities, and Chambers of Commerce and Industry are eligible for short-term training courses at participating institutions in India.  The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), New Delhi, administers the ITEC program while the Ministry of Finance (MOF), New Delhi, administers the Colombo Plan.  

Presently every year 43 slots under TCS of Colombo Plan and 25 seats under ITEC scheme are earmarked for the Philippines.  Under these schemes the Government of India provides return economy air ticket, tuition fees, accommodation and a small living allowance.  The Embassy of India, Manila, provides the air ticket to the selected candidates.

Candidate selection in the Philippines is organized through the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) of the Philippine Government.  Interested candidates should therefore apply to the Scholarships Division of NEDA through their own Ministries and Departments.  Immediately on receipt of the application form NEDA/DFA, the Embassy processes and recommends them to the concerned institution and the nodal Ministry in New Delhi.

ICCR

The Indian Council of Cultural Relations New Delhi offers scholarships to students from developing countries for University education and also for courses in fine arts, music, dance etc.  Duration of these courses is normally two to three years.  Two slots are offered under this scheme to the Filipino students.  Tuition fees, hotel accommodation, book allowance etc. are provided under this scheme.  Air ticket has to be arranged by the student.  Applications duly recommended by the embassy of India Manila have to reach the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi, by 28th February for the academic year commencing in July.  Interested students may contact information section of the Embassy in December/January.  More information about participating universities and institutions, general guidelines is available on the ICCR web site www.iccrindia.org  and can be downloaded by clicking on scholarships.
