During  its sitting on 20 December, 2011, Hon’ble Chairman, Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of Indian Parliament, made a special mention of the loss suffered by the friendly people of the Philippines.  He conveyed that the people of India stand in solidarity with the people of the Philippines in their hour of  grief.  This was followed by the Hon’ble Members of the Rajya Sabha standing in silence for one minute as  a mark of respect to the memory of those who lost their lives in this national calamity.
